Description of the organisation:
Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) operates the urban PT network of the city of Paris and of the surroundings. Created in 1949, the RATP is a financially independent public sector industrial and commercial company.
It is the largest multimodal transport organisation in the world and one of the essential contributors to the life force of Paris and Ile-de-France Region which bring together a population of 11 million people and 5 million jobs. Every day the 38 000 men and women who staff the company carry out their role as a public service for the millions of passengers transported by the RER and Metro trains, the buses and tramways.
The RATP provides 80% of the public transport services; its annual traffic comes to 2 billion journeys. Its turnover comes to over 20 millions French Francs.
The RATP has impressive human and technical resources, and a large research study and construction work capacity.
Role in the project:
leader of the development of the object-oriented modelling activity. RATP will contribute as well to introduce extensions and enhancements to Transmodel V.4, as regards the real-time control domain.
